Allsorts - Insects, bugs, bees and butterflies

Time for a new challenge at Allsorts - this time it is to feature bugs, bees or butterflies on your creation.
I used lady bugs from Magnolia and made a gift tag. I coloured them with distress ink and put glossy accents on the hearts and stickles on the lace (why there is lace on a lady bug I have no idea) but you can't really tell from the photo, you just have to take my word for it :)
We've got a lovely stamp sheet from Rare Earth for a lucky winner.

Allsorts - Happy Birthday

Morning all, time for a new challenge at Allsorts and not just any challenge, it is our 9th Birthday challenge.

The theme is of course

Happy Birthday

Anything to celebrate a Birthday; a card, journal page, gift bag or box, something you are giving as a gift. So many options and we look forward to seeing what you create.

A special Birthday deserves some special prizes and we have nine of them including a store voucher from Craft Obsessions, that's one for every year.

And....................Brenda even says there may be a few more winners drawn as well, over the months a few prizes have gone unclaimed so this seems like a perfect time to send them to new homes

My DT contribution is a card with embossed background, decorated with ribbon in teal and silver, quite fitting for a male I would think. The lighting of the card is horrible, I know, luckily the brighter - and warmer - season is here at last to make photographing easier :)

Allsorts - In the pink

This week at Allsorts it's Susan's turn to host and she chose In the pink as a theme.
I made a gift bag, die cut the upper edge, made my own coloured paper with distress inks in Victorian Velvet, shaded lilac and Tumbled Glass and sprayed it all with perfect pearls. I hade to glue the pearls to make them look casually spread :)

GDT Penny Black & More

There's a new challenge at Penny Black & More this month and since it's a sister challenge to us at Allsorts we take turns to be guest designers and during May it's my turn. The theme is Anything goes and I used Penny Black stitched flowers, stamped it first on the card and then once again to layer some of the petals. It doesn't show all that well on the card but fortunately it does in real life - otherwise the work would have been in vain :)

Allsorts - Fancy folds

This week at Allsorts Mervi set the challenge to Fancy folds. So I went to it and folded a gable gift box, covered the sides with blue design paper and decorated it with a musical die cut.
We are sponsored by Digistamp Boutique and Marianne Design, you don't want to miss out!

Allsorts - Animals

Since it's National Pet Awareness month and RSPCA week Brenda wants us at Allsorts to feature a pet on our projects. Since I'm a cat person I went for cats, played around with the distress inks to make a background and finished off the card with a sentiment from Penny Black.

We have two animal inspired prizes this week, the first a new Woodware cat stamp and the second a collection of three sweet animal stamps.

Woodware stamp
Three smaller animal stamps

Allsorts - Use pearls

This week at Allsorts it's my turn to host the challenge and I want you to Use pearls. I had a small jewellery box in rather vivid colours so I decided to paint it with white gesso and acrylic paint, distress the edges and put flowers, pearls and a ribbon on it. Suits me more now :)

And this is how it looked before the transformation...

We are sponsored this week by Marianne Design.

Other challenges:
I am roses - anything goes (using all roses, rosebuds and pearl string)

Allsorts - Spring flowers or showers

This week at Allsorts Ellie set the theme to Spring flowers or showers. I went for showers and made a cover for a chocolate box. I paper-pieced the umbrella in the same paper as the cover. Really wish it would actually rain cause that would make the snow go away. The bottom layer is all icy so it feels like it will never melt away...
